Telangana State Profile
Telangana is the 29th state of India, formed on 2 June 2014. The state has an area of 1.12,077 square kilometers. And has a population of 3,50,03,674. The Telangana region was part of the state of Hyderabad from September 17, 1948 until November 1, 1956, until it merged with the state of Andhra to form the state of Andhra Pradesh.

After decades of movement for a separate state, Telangana was created through the approval of the AP Reorganization Law in both Houses of Parliament. Telangana is surrounded by Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh in the north, Karnataka in the west and Andhra Pradesh in the south and east. The main cities of the state are Hyderabad, Warangal, Nizamabad and Karimnagar.
